GROW THE GAME

If you have siblings, friends, cousins, or even enemies that you think would like lacrosse, invite them to one of our Try it Free sessions.

  • We will be hosting Try it Free sessions each Friday, February 8th – March 22nd from 6 pm -7 pm.

You can also send them some YouTube videos of Paul Rabil’s insane trick shots! Lacrosse is the fastest growing youth sport in the country. We all know why. Let’s spread the word!

Registration is now open for the season, which starts April 15. Go to the Registration tab, tor click the Register now button. Check the Age Chart (link under “Register Online”) if you are unsure which group your child should be in.

RRVLA is looking for more coaches this year. It’s a great way for parents to get involved and learn the game. Volunteer coaches will get their child’s registration fee waived.  We will also be having a Coaches training so if you are willing to coach but unsure you are qualified, you are and we will help.

The boys 12U, 14U, JV, and Varsity age groups of the RRVLA will compete in the new Northern Plains Lacrosse League (NPLL) in 2019. The NPLL will include teams from North and South Dakota. Visit http://northernplainslacrosse.com/ for more information.

We’re planning to separate our travel teams from the in-house league this year. Please register for one or the other, not both as in the past. The in-house league will practice twice each week and have games on Thursday evenings. We are hoping to include games with other area programs for in-house games. The Travel team will practice three times per week with weekend games as follows:

Tentative Weekend schedule:

  • May 4-5 @ Bismarck, ND - 12U, 14U & JV/Varsity
  • May 11th @ Fargo, ND - 12U, 14U & JV/Varsity
  • May 18-19 @ Sioux Falls, SD - 12U, 14U & JV/Varsity
  • June 8-9 @ Grand Forks, ND - 12U, 14U & JV/Varsity
  • June 14-16 Year End Tournament, 12U, 14U & JV/Varsity

There will be tryouts for travel teams if registration numbers are large enough for two teams at any level.

The boys 8U and 10U age groups will include an in-house league and separate travel team(s). Players should sign up for one or the other, not both. In-house will practice twice per week and have games on Thursday nights. We are hoping to include games with other area programs for in-house games. As far as equipment goes, we will allow hockey helmets and gloves for the in-house league. However, we will require lacrosse helmets for the travel teams. We are planning three or four tournaments for the travel teams. The tentative schedule follows:

Tentative Weekend schedule:

  • May 4-5 @ Grand Rapids, MN - Grand Rapids Shootout
  • June 7-9 @ Shakopee, MN - Shakopee River Valley Shootout
  • July 12-14 @ Woodbury, MN - Woodbury Black + Blue Tournament

The Polars Cub Club offers boys and girls the opportunity to play the game of lacrosse with no equipment investment. Practices for this group will be split between boys and girls.  Boys will be on Wed. evenings, April-June. Girls will be Thursday, April 25 - May 30. In both groups, we will focus on the basics and having FUN. See the registration page for more details.

Parent Meetings We will schedule parent meetings for all groups the first week in March. The location and exact date/time will be sent out when we nail that down.

Grow the Game

The board is looking forward to a great 2019 Lacrosse season.  To make that happen we need your help!

Spring Registration is live, and there are still openings to join us for Winter Clinics.

As we have in the past, we expect to see more players out for Lacrosse this spring than we had last spring.  We have increased our participation numbers each year and hope to keep that trend going into 2019 and beyond.  To do that we need help from you our members. We need help in four main areas:
Referees
Parent coaches
Additional volunteers
a. Board members
b. Other volunteer positions
Player recruitment

Referees:

We are part of the newly created Northern Planes Lacrosse League as members of this league; we need to provide referees for our home games.  We are looking to train local men and women to be able to referee lacrosse. If you have previous referring experience that is great, if not that is fine as well. If you are interested in learning more please reach out to us

Parent Coaches:

With more players comes the need for more teams, more teams means more coaches.  We need some of you enthusiastic parents to step up to learn the game of lacrosse to help coach our kids. We will be having a classroom coaches training session to help you learn the basics as well as field training to learn the drills and the proper way to teach them. The first year that you coach, you will receive one player registration refunded.

Board members:

We all know the things that this association accomplishes do not happen without the hard work of the volunteers that make up the Board of Directors.  We are currently in need of some additional help.

a. We have 3 Board Members terms expiring after this season, We will need some great people to help fill these positions.
i. President
ii. Treasurer
iii. Director of Fundraising
c. If you or someone you know is interested please have them reach out to us by emailing us at for more information.

4. Other Volunteer Positions:

a.Website Administration:
i. For this position, we are looking for someone that has previous experience with website design and maintenance as well as the ability to work in design applications to be able to design signage, and apparel.
If you or someone you know is interested in any of these above positions please reach out to us by emailing us at  for more information.

5. Player recruitment:

As with any sport new to the area, we need to keep growing.  To keep growing the game we need to keep recruiting new players.  If you know of boys or girls that are interested in Lacrosse, please invite them to come along with your player to a camp or practice to check out the game.  We will also remove the fundraising requirement for players that refer a new player that registers for the spring season.
